Who’s Hungry?
Food is a part of life, as it’s a part of our culture.
I’ve started this page to inspire you to cook. Hence, many of you have reached out to me via Instagram and Snapchat and suggest I start a blog about the cooking I do. My recipes are nothing fancy yet delicious; so I’ve been told. Believe it or not, I used to hate cooking. I could never get enough flavors in my foods. I would cut my finger as I was cutting vegetables. I found some foods to turn out too oily. It’s trial and error. That’s how I feel cooking should be. Don’t feel bad, if you’re first experience in the kitchen was horrible. Please don’t let that DISCOURAGE you. After all, it’s a learning process and that’s kind of the point.
Cooking helps you learn who you are in the sense of any dietary restrictions and food allergies. You may be thinking, huh? Well, just think for a minute-when you’re out at a restaurant eating your favorite meal, you may feel bloated, nauseated from possible food poisoning or you could just be in food coma. When it comes to cooking, you’re using your own ingredients and spices and you may discover the same meal that you used to order at the restaurant will not make you feel bloated. Yeh, could be because there’s no MSG in home cooked meals…the ingredients could be fresher-but overall, you see a difference in the way your body digests.
I am a person who loves to try new foods, new recipes and new styles of cooking. Traveling to different parts of world helped me understand that not everyone has a gas stove, nor a BBQ grill. It also helped me experience foods I eat at home in a new way.
Visiting a new country, trying new dishes and experiencing new flavors means you get to come home with so many things to try in your own kitchen. Yea, it might not taste exactly like that pasta you had in Rome, but hey, you can tell yourself it’s just as good. One of the best parts of traveling and trying new things is to bring home that knowledge you didn’t have before to use it, so take advantage of it. The kitchen is my playground. Whether that means cutting up the 50 different vegetables to put in the dish or marinating a tray of chicken for a friend’s BBQ; I’m all for it. The kitchen is a place where you can travel to any country without having to ever leave your house, so happy cooking!
